My Thoughts

Ok, so if you've read my review on False Memory you'll see I stayed up until all hours of the night to read it on the week that I worked. Well I did a little better this time. I did start reading it on a night that I didn't work the next day...however, I started the book at around 8 pm and stayed up until 1 am to finish it...at least I didn't work the next day?...

But for serious. This book is that addicting. Just like the False Memory, this second book of the series catapults you immediately into conflict and action. I LOVE books like this. The quick chapters, the constant cliffhangers, the need to just keep reading. Unputdownable...is that a word?...don't care. Like our first installment, False Sight's plot twists, turns, and stabs you in the heart constantly. Excuse my language on this next part but if False Memory was a mind-fuck, False Sight is like a mind-ménage à trois. The science aspect continues to blow me away. The head tilting need to fit all the pieces together and figure out what exactly what is going on constantly keeps you intrigued.

My initial thought prior to reading this was, I can't WAIT to see what kind of trouble Miranda is going to get into next...and we better get a lot of Peter. Really. I was so excited to see where our characters went next and I was not disappointed. Noah and Rhys have a lot of great moments with a good amount of comic relief. Alas, my heart still belongs to Peter though. Peter is still such a fantastic character to me. Assertive, strong, selfless and always thinking of those around him. He is the ultimate leader to me and the younger version of myself just adores him. Totally crushin'. Miranda continues to work towards her degree in complete badass. Her strength and desire to protect those around her is admirable. And while she herself struggles with the idea of selflessness, I know without a doubt she would be the first person to put others before herself. I think it says a lot about a character when the reader can see how strong they are but that they still struggle to see the strength in themselves.

But what makes these characters unique is their absolute love for each other. They are a unit, they are friends, and they are a family. Fate might have forced them together but they stay together and care about each other by choice. The moments they all share together are beautiful. SPEAKING of the feels, the action of this book is unrelenting and constant. Love this. But then, Dan Krokos decides to bash you in the head with this deep-rooted emotion and you're like oh my gosh...am I crying?...oh, I am so totally crying...did that just happen?! YES, yes it did and while I don't like to cry, I know that a book is doing something right when it brings out that kind of emotion in me. These characters are just so pure of heart at their core and the emotions they go through I was feeling right along with them. 

Like all good science fiction novels, they explore an idea and challenge you to think about an idea. Krokos definitely does a fantastic job with this and totally has me mentally debating the idea of, not only cloning, but of capturing personalities in a memory band-esque object. Miranda struggles with this in False Memory and even more so in False Sight and how the plot develops it definitely has me thinking about the pros and cons of scientific advancements and how far is too far? I would love to talk further however I would totally be spoiling the book and I refuse to do that ;) 

Should You Read This? Sci-fi lovers unite because this is a mind-bending book you definitely wanna check out. But read False Memory first, of course.
