Top Ten Books So Far in 2013

I am SO excited to do this week's Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!!!! I can't wait to gush about all the AMAZING books I've read so far!! And of course, I couldn't pick just 10 so I cheated a little. I used authors sometimes instead of just individual books AND I added a few honorable mentions...WHAT!? It's been a good year so far for books...sue me. :)

AND I wanted to highlight WHY I love books. My favorites always fall into certain categories so I wanted to break it down as to what makes me LOVE books. Hope you enjoy!

ALL the FEELS
Definition: Books that make your heart pound with each anticipation of a page turn, your eyes cry with each heart breaking moment, and your chest hurt with how much emotion you feel for the characters

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover (review)--I LOVED this book. The story, the writing, the romance, the emotional depth. This book has it all. I just can't talk ENOUGH about how much I just obsess over this book. It gave me SO MANY FEELS!!! Swoon for Dean Holder and I adore Sky just SO much.

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay (review)--Um, yeah. You've all heard me rave about this book and obsession is probably an understatement with this book and Hopeless. I fell IN LOVE with this book. The writing is so poignant and the story will just rip your heart and soul open in the best way and it legit gave me ALL THE FEELS. I can't get enough of Nastya and Josh....*sigh*

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas--My review for this will be up in a few weeks closer to the release date but I don't get book hangovers really...and this book gave me the WORST book hangover. I didn't  even wanna LOOK at another book after finishing this. It was just TOO good. I want to binge read the entire series AGAIN after doing just that 2 weeks ago. So good. Definitely falls in the FEELS category :)

Gayle Forman-- If I Stay (review), Where She Went (review), and Just One Day (review) were some of the BEST books I  have ever read. There is so much pain and beauty in these books that I could go on and on about how much I connected with these books. I just FELT along with all the characters and found  myself just engrossed with these books. She can do NO wrong in my opinion and I would recommend any of her books to all humans everywhere.

ALL the BEAUTY
Definition: Books with writing so beautiful and poignant that you want to fall inside the book and curl up inside the pages.

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi (review)--OMG this book!!! THIS BOOK!!!  Tahereh Mafi is one of my FAVORITE writers and the way she uses words is BEYOND beautiful. This could totally go in the FEELS category but I wanted to pay special attention to how gorgeously she writes. I just can't. She is just too good at what she does. LOVE.

Diana Peterfreund--For Darkness Shows the Stars (review) and Across a Star-Swept Sea could also go in the FEELS category but like Mafi, there is just something to be said about Diana's writing. It just sucks you in to the world she creates and puts you right inside each character. You feel, you love, you cry along with all of them. It is so amazing how well she can transport you to the world she portrays. Simply amazing.

ALL the BOYS

Definition: Books that have the most sexy, swoony, lovable, hot and sigh-inducing boys around.

Vampire Academy (review)--Obvi. Like c'mon. DIMITRI?!?! Adrian?!?!? Need I say more?! Gotta love a book with a sexy, swoony book boyfriend and VA has Dimitri and more! He is a def top 3 book boyfriends and it also has the feels...and tall, hot, Russian, hot, sexy, swoony, hot, tall Dimitir...did I mention he was hot??....

Katie McGarry--Pushing the Limits (review) and Dare You To (review) were two of my FAVORITE book boyfriends reads so far this year. This lady can write a STORY let me tell you! I love the romance, the emotionally damaged characters, the FEELS, the BOYS!!! Noah and Ryan...rawr. Like for realz, yo. I wanted to read these again almost as soon as I finished. Love love LOVE!

ALL the SEXY TIMES
Definition: Books that have your panties melting with all the hotness. Hot men with even hotter bedroom behavior. Not for the faint-hearted.

Black Dagger Brotherhood--Wow...just...wow. I love me a good sexy book and we all know I hook for books and after Betty rec'd these to me I was HOOKED!!! I AM hooked! I am halfway through this series and my reviews debut THIS WEEK and I am SO excited to keep reading. These men...THESE MEN holy effing hell it is not even right how well JR Ward can writer these sexy, dark, beautifully dangerous men. I want to live in this world and never leave. MINE!

Beyond Control by Kit Rocha (review)--This book is one of the most crazy dystopias I have ever read! It is so good and the sexy times are just out of this world and at times completely obscene...so of course I LOVE it. The men and women in these books kick major ass and Dallas is one of my top ten book boyfriends. I need more of these books and I just LOVE how these books take you to this dark and twisted world.

  6. Heh heh, that first e-card is so my life. I generally lack empathy, but give me a fictional character and I'm an emotional mess. Gayle Forman and Katie McGarry are favorites of mine as well! Also, love the way you broke these all down. :)

  7. Ahaha, I LOVE your ecard choices. The first one is totally me, LOL. And, well, so are the rest of them, really.

I really need to read more of these books! There are entirely too many that have been hanging out on my TBR list for way too long. Especially all the Gayle Forman books.

I will now proceed to do ALL THE FREAKING OUT about Unravel Me. I love that you put it in the writing section, because her writing is unbelievable. I cannot even grasp how awesome it is. But it totally could have gone into the feels & swoons category, too!

Still impatiently waiting for Crown of Midnight.

These men...THESE MEN holy effing hell it is not even right how well JR Ward can writer these sexy, dark, beautifully dangerous men.

    SO TRUE.
