Goodreads Description

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

My Thoughts

If I had the opportunity to  kick myself in the face I would probably do it. This. Book. Was. Amazing. And I feel that that says a lot coming from me being the girl who swore she would never read a book based around vampires. Sorry all you Twilight fans but I was scarred from seeing the obsession over men who sparkle...uh, seriously? Thank the blood demons for Richelle Mead and J.R. Ward who gave me legit vamps. Scary as shit and sexy as all hell. Yeah...that's what I'm talking about. And OF COURSE the lovely and amazing Betty recommended this to me and seriously...all hail Betty. This girl has given me some of the best recs EVER! I am obsessed! She knows me way too well and while she is ruining any future romantic entanglement I may find myself in because men in real life will never live up to my book expectations...*sigh*...maybe one day ;)

Ok, so the book. Vampire warriors in a brotherhood fighting soulless humans bent on eradicating them from the world...uh, hell to the yeah. So the brotherhood men are...uh...shit, where do I start? Oh yeah...huge, powerful men who are gorgeous and are legit warriors of the night..somebody pick me up off the floor because I just fainted. The book follows Wrath, the unspoken leader of the brotherhood, and all vampires in general, and his quest to find and take care of the half human daughter of a fallen brother. From there we get drama, police involvement, murders, knife fights, the works...but we also get the romance. Holy hell, is it hot in here or is it just me? The chemistry between Wrath and Beth...oh my, like off the freakin' charts! They are drawn to each other and the dynamic between is both powerful and extremely tender. Their moments together have you equally sweating and wanting to cry with how gosh damn adorable they are. Love love LOVE!

Beth is one kickass bitch. Do not mess with her man. I can always identify with the fast talking, snarky, doesn't take no shit female because...well lets be honest, I share many similar qualities so I'm a bit biased. She is smart and loyal and somebody you really don't want to get on the bad side of. Same with Wrath. Ooooh boy, do not piss him off, yo. You will regret it. He is so set in his ways that when Beth comes around he finds himself totally out of his element. He has no clue what to do with somebody he actually cares about...it's adorable.

The rest of the brothers are equally delicious. I cannot WAIT to read more about each one of them and their stories. 10 more books...oh shit son, I am in heaven. They are all loyal and strong and I just love the lot of them. Butch, the human cop, was an unexpected love of mine. I wasn't sure what to think of him at first and he gets way more involved in the story than I ever thought he would. I like this guy. Rough around the edges, talks back to 7 feet tall vamps, takes no shit...he gets a gold star in my book.

The plot of this book is unreal. I know a book is good when I put it down and I'm like...well, wait what happens next?! When can I pick it up again?! The story is constantly moving and twisting that you can't turn the pages fast enough. The vampire lore is unique and I really love how they have to feed off of each other to survive rather than humans. I thought this was a fresh take on the stereotypical vampire story. The mythical/religious element is one I also can't wait to get a little more info on. And the sex scenes...wow, have a fan or a cold shower ready because these scenes are hot...of course my dirty gutter mind loved every one of them. Sorry not sorry.

Should You Read This? Hell. To. The. Yes. The vampires are fantastic. The plot is so incredibly entertaining. The characters are ones you get to know and love and root for. And the romance is totally sigh-inducing. Get on this book. For reals.

  2. Clearly, I need to be reading this book! My sister also recommended the series to me when I was home in February, so I'm just going to have to steal her copies when I'm home in August ;)

  3. HAHA.... ALL HAIL BETTY. LOVE IT.
I do sort of apologize for ruining your future search for a man. You have some ridiculous standards and *cough* desires at this point..... good luck with that ;) ;)
Cheers to Richelle Mead and J.R. Ward for writing REAL VAMPIRES!!! <3

  4. I had forgotten when I started re-reading this exactly how much Butch was in this book. In my mind, it was basically just mostly Wrath, but there's a ton of several of them in there. And then in the end with the SINGING OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS YOU KNOW WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT I CAN'T EVEN STAND IT. I will be resuming my audiobooking re-reading very soon with book two. They are LONG and take a while to get thru since I'm also doing review books as well but MAN OH MAN they are worth it for some fun throughout the day while I'm cooking or cleaning or whatever.

I'm SO GLAD you read this series. SO VERY GLAD. Yay to Betty for getting you started.
