Lumos My Life// Harry Potter Book Tag

Huge, huge, HUGE shoutout and thank you to Kim and Kimberly Faye Reads for creating this AMAZING book tag! There have been such an influx of amazing book tags recently and while I never used  to do them I love these ones that have totally got me excited!! And thanks to Steph at No BS Book Reviews for tagging me!!
AN UPCOMING RELEASE YOU WISH YOU COULD GET YOUR HANDS ON RIGHT NOW.
Blood Kiss by JR Ward
I will stroke the fuck out if I think too hard about having this book in my hands. The struggle is real.
FAVORITE SERIES STARTER

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
I love this fucking book so hard. The hard-won battle of survival, the competition, the friendships, the EVERYTHING! I love this first book and it sets the playing field for all the amazing that is going to come later!
Review
A BOOK THAT GAVE YOU ALL THE WARM & FUZZIES.

The Reed Brothers by Tammy Faulkner
Specifically the series ending short story Christmas with the Reeds because it's like an epilogue of where they all are now and I just ADORE this family of tattoo artist brothers and their wives. Each book is great and I can't describe why I love them so much except that I just do! They click with me and I love them so hard!
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU UGLY CRY.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
I just can't even talk about it. Read the book. Read the book. Read the book.
BOOKISH HERO OR HEROINE YOU WANT AROUND TO PROTECT YOU IN REAL LIFE.
Aedion from Heir of Fire
Aedion is my Throne of Glass man of choice. He is strong, capable, and let's get real here. He's the only character in the entire series who has been secretly but efficiently rebelling since the beginning. If that doesn't make your heart go crazy then you are missing that vital organ.

Qhuinn from Black Dagger Brotherhood
Qhuinn is my BFF in my head of all the book characters I've read about. He's my man. And while Z holds my heart and it hurt NOT to pick him--I had to save him for a later answer--if I have to have any man to protect me when Z's not around, Qhuinn is my guy.
A BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD MAKE EVERYONE READ BECAUSE YOU LOVED IT SO.
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
This book isn't for everyone and while there are definitely polarizing opinions about it, it just works on so many levels for me. It strikes me so deeply as one of the most agonizing and moving stories I have ever read. The lengths Tatiana and Alexander go through for one another and sacrifice for the people around them is astounding. It's not an easy book to read but that's what I loved about it. It was the first book I had ever read that I actually had the entire range of emotions at one time or another. I love these characters and I hate them and I feel for them and I want to shake them. I loved being able to feel that much about a book and it's inhabitants. Not many books can make you actually feel all the feels. I wish everyone could love this book like I do.
A BOOK SERIES YOU WISH NEVER ENDED.
The Queen by Tiffany Reisz
These characters are my people and I call very few books/series my family and this series is one of them. Nora, Soren, Kingsley, Griffin, and Michael have a place in my heart that will never be taken away. These books have really opened up my eyes are heart to so many things and I am forever grateful for these books.

Honorable Mention:
The Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward
This series is still going strong but if this world ever ends my heart is going right along with it. I can't even think about it.
A BOOK WITH AN UPLIFTING MESSAGE.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
This sounds like an odd choice, I know. But when I think about The Hunger Games series or when I see the movie previews (which is rare because I HATE books to movies with the exception of HP and THG so this is huge me saying this) I get chills. I am so inspired by this story of survival and strength and fighting against oppression. There are so many poignant moments that give me such an acute reaction that I can feel it in my chest. These books are the reason I read. I am inspired to be a better human after reading these books.

A BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD FORGET YOU EVER READ.
The Summer Garden by Paullina Simons
Another shocker but this book broke my heart in the worst way. We previously spent 1700 pages with these characters and this book destroyed everything we knew about who they were at their core. I read that this book was written to please readers and the publisher and I can tell. The original plan was to include the epilogue at the end of book 2, Tatiana and Alexander, and it should have stayed that way. This book does zero justice to everything we know and love about Shura and Tatia.
AN AUTHOR WHOSE BOOKS ALWAYS GET YOU OUT OF A READING SLUMP.
Lauren Smith
I was recently in a reading slump after coming off of an amazing Megan Erickson binge only to DNF two books in a row. I started The Gilded Chain by Lauren and it totally got my groove back. LOVE this series and her!
A SWOON-WORTHY HERO OR HEROINE.
Zsadist from Lover Awakened
As IF I would pick anybody but Z as my swoony hero. Other alphas have come before him and after him but he always remains number one in my heart. And he always will.
A BOOK THAT CAUSED YOU TO STOP DOING ALL OTHER THINGS UNTIL YOU FINISHED IT
Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas
I actually put my phone in the other room for hours as I sat and read this book so I could put all attention on Aelin and her band of merry men *cough* and women. Nothing was going to stop me from fully immersing myself and reading this amazing book.
A BOOK THAT WAS PAINFUL TO READ (FOR WHATEVER REASON) OR BROKE YOU.
Nash by Jay Crownover
Most of you know my emotional connection to Saint in this book and every time I read it is just slays me. There is so much of myself in her character, especially her flaws, that I always have to stop and take a deep look at myself after I read it. It's like the mirror I don't want to look into but I know I have to.
A BOOK THAT HAD YOU LAUGHING OUT LOUD.
Gamers series by Megan Erickson
I was lol'ing so hard while reading this, just ask Steph, because it is SO clever and funny and I was just so thoroughly enjoying my time spent with these characters I never wanted it to end!
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU WANT TO SEND IT (OR YOUR E-READER) FLYING.
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Big shocker on this one! Don't even get me started on this one. My review speaks for itself.
A BOOKSISH WORLD YOU WISH YOU COULD VISIT.
The world of Harry Potter is the obvious answer but my second choice would definitely be Eretz from Daughter and Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. This was the BEST world building I've ever read and I wish I could be a chimera. Seriously. Give me some wings and some horns and I'll be a happy girl. Also, maybe a hot angel to fall in love with. Just sayin'.

Honorable Mention:
Sector 4 from The Beyond Series by Kit Rocha because...yeah...read the books.
A BOOK WITH A SHOCKING TWIST OR ENDING
The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
Reading "five" POVs during the storyline and not knowing which man was the prince and which was the assassin was BRILLIANT and something I had never read before. It was so unique and creative and fascinating and STRESSFUL to read but I loved every second. Even the re-read makes it interesting!

A CHARACTER DEATH THAT DESTROYED YOU.

Dumbledore because...*waaaaaaah*
I sat in my friends living room while reading SOBBING at the end. She had already finished and was like, you need to finish this now because we need to talk. Aaaaaand the rest is history.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
BEST SERIES CONCLUSION

Harry Potter because duh.

Yay!! I tag...
And anybody who loves Harry Potter and books!!

  1. I AM SO EXCITED THAT YOU TAGGED ME TO DO THIS! My love for Harry Potter and my love for book tags knows no bounds, apparently. But I loved seeing your answers (all the BDB and TOG mentions are A+, lady) and I can't wait to get started on mine ;)

  3. I'm so freaking excited to do this tag. After rereading the HP series (at 12:30 am the night before flying out to orlando) and going to the wizarding world of harry potter (omg it felt like HOME. I wanna go back), I am seriously in a bit of a HP hangover and I get pangs in my chest that the entire thing is not actually real. Because damnit, I swear my letter got waylaid. I'm about to binge all the movies this weekend (that's the plan anyway) and doing this tag will be the perfect thing ever. :)

re: your choices -- you remind me that I definitely need to read more BDB!! Also, why have I not read the marked men books yet?! the gilded cuff... *hides* haha i swear I'll get on that, but I DO have gilded chain now and it's on my list!!
