Top Ten Tuesday! TT Books I Read in 2012

Yowza! Those ladies over at The Broke and The Bookish don't make it easy on us. I was pulling out my hair trying to narrow it down to the Top Ten...I could probably do a top 25...maybe 30...oofta. Ok, without further ado, my very difficulty narrowed down list of the Top Ten Books I've Read in 2012, in no particular order, are as follows...

I know I said no particular order but my first two picks are easily number 1 and 2 of the year. Goodreads had a proverbial gun to my head when I was voting between them...just cruel. If you have not read this you are missing out. Beautiful. Emotional. Poignant. Breathtaking. I could gush for hours but I may start to cry. For the love of literature everyone needs to read this. That is all. :)

Book number 2 that I could gush about for hooooours but would inevitably end up crying over because just like Code Name Verity, this book is beautiful. John Green is a genius and probably one of the best writers of our time. No joke. You all know what I'm talking about. The man is a genius. This book is no excpetion.

Ugh! I loooooove these books!! So much rich detail and historical information my mind just sings with joy. Matthew de Clairmont is the sexiest, most man of a man book character in my literary life. If I could make any fictional boyfriend appear, this man would be it. Harness' writing is steeped with vampire and paranormal lore as well as historical events which I cannot get enough of! Amazing!

Yes, yes I know! This came out last year bu,t remember, I'm catching up on all things YA. So...I feel as if no explanation is necessary on this one...so I'm just gonna leave it be...<4...no, that is not a typo ;)

Fantasy is my achilles. The follow-up to The Girl of Fire and Thorns was one of the best second books in a series. So much action. So much tension between the main love interest. My heart couldn't stop pounding. Add in a foundation of spirituality and faith in God...can't not love this book times a million.

Again, late on this trilogy train. Binge read all her books in a few days time. LOOOOOVED the series, ya'll should read it. It is amazing. Purely phenomenal. Can't say enough about it. Blue in the face, yet again. <3

World of the Shadowhunters PLUS historical fiction?! Hello, one of the best books I've read all year! Another second book phenom. Oh the agony that is Jem and Will and Tessa...gah!!! What is gonna happen next!! I love Jem...no Will....ah, but Jem is so darn ador...but Will loves books and is so damaged and tortured and self-sacrificing...*sits in corner and cries about literary life*

SPEAKING of agonizing love triangles. I know Juliette doesn't see it yet, but Warner...c'mon Warner. Damaged, tortured, self-degrading, I swoon for this sometimes monster of a man. This writing is beautiful and squeezes your heart until it is barely beating...but in a good way :)

Akiva and Karou's story continued in this second book and I could not get enough. I love being lost in the world that Taylor created. It is dark and haunting yet beautiful. A part of me wants to be a chimaera even though I have spent my life fantasizing about being an angel...but maybe not the type of angel from this book...eek.

This book was a definite unexpected love of 2012. I looooved the science fiction aspect of this novel. The heroine is fierce and totally kick-ass. The entire world-building aspect of this book is extraordinary. It just rocks. If you haven't read it yet go pick it up, it is awesome. Oh, and there's some pretty sexy men in the book, too. Totally fictional boyfriend potential <3

Yay for books!! I can't wait to see what made your list!!! <3

Peace and Love :)

  1. I'm happy to see Divergent on here! I read it last year and loved it. While I did cry like a baby when reading TFiOS, it wasn't my favorite books at all. Also, I loved the world building in Crewel, but overall it wasn't my thing.
