Goodreads Description

Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

My Thoughts

So if I was middle of the road with The Immortal Rules, I was definitely swayed with The Eternity Cure. Holy fantastic follow-up. I always find huge satisfaction when I like the sequel more than the original. I think it says a lot about the author and the writing not to fall into the ditch of the second book curse. This book has no such flaw. I really, REALLY liked this book and it totally cemented my love for this series.

SPOILERS FOR THE IMMORTAL RULES IF YOU HAVE NOT READ IT--YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

SO, The Eternity Cure picks up a few weeks after Allie left Eden in search of Kanin...*sigh*. I was screaming in my head the whole time, FIND HIM FIND HIM FIND HIM! Kanin is the best character to me, after Allie, and I wanted so much more from him soooo you'll have to read it to find out if she finds him :) HOWEVER, she is not alone...Allie does find a companion on her journey...who is that might you ask? MILD SPOILER AHEAD........................

...........None other than Jackal. Oh yes, you heard me right. How they end up working together I cannot say BUT while I wanted to stab him in the face with a stake in The Immortal Rules, I totally adored his sarcastic nature in this book. Could you trust him? Hell no. Were his comments hilarious and usually right on? Hell yes. His comic relief was a fantastic addition to the story. I just love the sarcastic a-hole. Can't help it.  ANOTHER MILD SPOILER AHEAD

......Zeke also makes an appearance. Again, how this happens my lips are sealed. But c'mon, you knew you were gonna come across these characters again eventually. He really grew on me in this book. He does not take Allie's crap and he really forces her to face and accept who she is. Kid really stepped it up in this installment...I approve. Well done, Zeke, well done. And of course, Allie continues to be a badass chick, kicking asses and taking names. She is just awesome.

The plot is AMAZING. The entire arc of what happens flows seamlessly and I could not turn the pages fast enough because I was dying to see what happened next. We get mystery and adventure and betrayal and SO MANY SURPRISES IT IS RIDICULOUS! Stuff happens and you are just stunned. It's awesome. We get more history of the vampire lore and what caused the Red Lung and the rabids. I loved it all. And the end?! Oh my gosh you guys, seriously. Julie Kagawa is the master of suspense and twisted plot lines. Just when you think nothing else crazy can happen...take it back because you are about to get hit in the face with another twist. Oh my heart. It was just too much! The ending...ugh, I can't. I NEED the next book...in my hands...yesterday...ARG!

Should You Read This? If you love vampires, Julie Kagawa, The Immortal Rules, and fantastic plots...then YES! Get on it, this book will not disappoint in the least!

  2. I am so happy to hear you enjoyed this! I just read a couple reviews that didn't seem to like the book too much and I was starting to think I was the only person who absolutely loved it lol. I agree with all the points you made.. Zeke totally stepped it up this time and I loved his moments with Allie even more in this book. Also Jackal? What a turnaround from The Immortal Rules. I loved his sarcasm and snark and the dynamic between him and Allie. Even when you were 100% sure if you could trust him. He def kept things interesting. Great review!
