Dystopian Authors
1. Caragh O'Brien--Can't have a list where I don't give mad props to her Birthmarked trilogy. I can talk until I'm blue in the face. She is a brilliant writer.
2. Tahereh Mafi--SPEAKING of beautiful writing! Mafi, like Taylor, weaves a story so rich with raw emotion your heart just wrenches while reading. I'd would sacrifice a toe to get her next book in my hands :)
3. Veronica Rossi--Under The Never Sky is such a fantastic book and her writing is so rich in visualization that I can't wait to see what she writes next.
Fantasy Authors
4. Sarah J. Mass--Oh my gosh. Her debut novel Throne of Glass was epic. Soooo good! I can't wait for the next one. Her fusion of fantasy and magic is exciting and brilliant.
5. Leigh Bardugo--Her Russian-inspired fantasy world is epic and utterly breathtaking. Shadow and Bone is one of my favorite books of this year and I cannot wait for more of her writing.
Historical Fiction Authors
6. Elizabeth Wein--If you haven't read Code Name Verity yet please put that to the top of your TBR list. You will not forget it. This is brilliant literature and a modern classic in the making. No joke.
7. Katherine Longshore--Her young adult view of the Tudor court is spectacular. A whole new look on an old story and I cannot get enough of her vision.
Paranormal Authors
8. Cynthia Hand--I strive and try so hard not to be a sap when it comes to books. It NEVER happens! Her Unearthly trilogy I started earlier this year and I cannot get enough of it. The romance of it all just sweeps me away.
9. Laini Taylor--Again, like with Caragh O'Brien, I cannot say enough wonderful things about Taylor's writing. Daughter of Smoke and Bone might be one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. *sigh*
Realistic Fiction Author
10. John Green--Please see introductory paragraph. Thank you. <3
