Goodreads Description
Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew - about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam - was wrong.
The Belle
The Writing. Tahereh. Freakin'. Mafi. HOW do you write such poignant words with a prose that is beyond epic. You don't just write words, you bundle them up in layers of emotions and you set them free. The writing of Juliette's feelings are so strong and visceral that I cannot help but be utterly captivated by them. I have said this with all her books, she writes in a way that makes you feel. You breathe these words in and they are oxygen to all that is literary. I cannot get enough of her writing style. It is raw and deep and passionate and I just want to hug them. The passages about words and punctuation and how they relate to real life are just TOO much. They are amazing and brilliant and so poetic there are times I had to just stop reading because I just had to breathe a moment. It really took my breath away. The series as a whole has so many amazing moments and quotes that I can relate to it hurts. It is beautiful and she is on a level with very few other authors in my opinion. Her style is unique and enchanting and I will read any and everything I can get my hands on by her in the future.
The Story. The book and entire series is character driven. It is all about Juliette and her life experience in this world of the Reestablishment. I might offend many people here with this review but it needs to be said. The criticism that the third book has a lack of plot or world building is not a reason to downgrade this book. There was very little world building in the first two books so why do you expect there to be any in the third? This book is about the reaction to the world, not the world itself. Does this work for every dystopia or paranormal series? Hell no. But don't lie to yourself it works for this. Also, don't lie to yourself that you dislike this book because of the "lack" of world building. You dislike parts of this book because she didn't end up with your guy. Just admit it and we can all move on. But please do not try and diminish the beauty that is this book with invalidated reasoning. We all love Shatter Me and Unravel Me because of the feels! The emotions. The romance. The journey. The growth. I don't believe people fell in love with this series to be brought into another world entire. They fell in love with Juliette and Kenji and Adam and Warner. Sorry tangent. I was going to put it in The Beast section but it felt right to put it here. Anyways.
Juliette. Daaaaaayum girl! You know how to work it! She had massive WHS (Whiny Heroine Syndrome) in Unravel Me but you would never know it in Ignite Me. Girlfriend gots a new attitude and she is kicking asses and taking names. She is ready to fight. She is ready to take down the people that hurt her. I cannot tell you enough how much I loved this development. She was not wishy-washy. She did not falter. She stayed strong. There were several points where I was so nervous that she was going to regress and be weak and timid. Oh hells no. She was so strong, so fierce, so driven to succeed. She was just so badass! I never thought she had it in her. She has earned a spot in the top ten kickass females because she finally owned who she was. She accepted and loved herself and went after what she wanted.
The Feels. Ok, you guys, where do I begin!??! Like I said above, this book is character driven. It is all about the feels and emotions and the journey. I defaced this book on the inside like Tahereh defaces the outside. I was dog-earing and underlining massive passages, writing notes and thoughts and feels and comments and I couldn't stop!! I love what I did to this book. I had to stop at some points because I thought I was going to die from the feels. The journey to the point Juliette gets to is not easy but it is SO worth it. The feel were so powerful and raw and deep and poignant that it hurt sometimes. Actually hurt. I was texting Hannah constantly about my thoughts and pictures of stuff I underlined--I couldn't stop! ALL THE AMAZING! I seriously don't know what else to say about how amazing I think this book is. SO MANY FEELS I CAN'T SAY IT ANY BETTER!!! I made a collage below of some key pics but THEY HAVE SPOILERS SO IF YOU HAVE NOT READ IT DO NOT LOOK BELOW.
The Romance. See above. The feels. ALL the feels. I needed to fan myself and was grinning like an idiot almost the entire book. The romance was just too much at points because it was just so amazing. It was just too charming for words. Love love LOVE. While I might have been completely on one person's team., I think both guys are fantastic. I would have been happy either way as long as the reason she chose him was validated with real emotions and reasons. I think it makes complete sense who she ended up with because it was right for her. The journey there was epic and beautiful in its own broken way. That's all I'm saying because I won't spoil it!

The Beast
Um...I needed Chapter 55 to be longer...and Chapter 58...
Should You RSVP To This Ball?
Yes. Yes yes yes A MILLION TIMES YES! This series is epic! It is beautiful and poignant and the prose is unmatched. ALL THE FEELS with this series as a whole and I would recommend this book to any lover of words.
A preview of my epic and amazing defacement of Ignite Me.
THERE ARE SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Hope you like what I've done with the joint :)
I'm not continuing with this series but I had to comment when I saw "You think Warner is sexy?" - I DO. I'm laughing so hard right now.
ReplyDeleteWarner = so sexy!
ReplyDelete'nuff said.
I'm so glad I decided to finish this series, because of this book. While I find more ways to criticize the longer I think about it, in the moment, I LOVED it - and mostly for the reasons you highlighted, literally, in your copy! Haha
ReplyDeleteWarner=love of my life. Hot damn he got even sexier in this book didn't he?? Chapter 55!!! So many feels and I just died. This was such an amazing ending to this series. I love your point about the world-building. Lots of ppl have been complaining about it, but I totally agree with you. This series was about the characters, not the world.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHHAH. BEST. REVIEW. EVER. I effing LOVE WARNER. HOTTEST EVER. OMG YES.
ReplyDeleteLETS MAKE HIM REAL. Shall we!???
Just curious why your opinion is valid but mine isn't? I'm entitled to my opinion just as you are. We will just have to agree to disagree. I disliked the book for many reasons and they are just as legitimate as yours.
ReplyDeleteUm, when did she disagree with you? Dude you are so self centered, you actually believe this review has anything to do with you or your opinion? Last I checked this was Kelly's blog, not yours, aka this is her expressing her VALID opinion. Whether your opinion is valid or not is irrelevant, get your own blog.
DeleteI see that you do have your own blog, just checked. Anyho, why are you talking about your opinion here then? Don't be self-centered, this is about Kelly's opinion of the book.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS REVIEW. AND YOU.
ReplyDeleteSo, get on with your feisty self. I have lots of thoughts on this, but I don't actually have to share them here because I've basically already told you all of them.
But, yes, I'll co-sign this review.
I had to skip through the defacement part, but it makes me pretty happy that you wound up enjoying IGNITE ME! I seriously have to get to reading it soon (I've been avoiding it because of all the hype that surrounded it), but I'm definitely looking forward to immersing myself in Tahereh's writing and finding out what happens to Juliette.
ReplyDeleteThis blog post is absolute and utter perfection.THIS is everything ;) Couldn't have expressed my own thoughts better if I tried to <3
ReplyDeleteI just have to say...I'd be pissed if she ended up with the other guy because he was a complete DOUCHEBAG. He started being a douchebag in book 2 and continued it. I have no love for him like I did in the first book.
