Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week we get to pick our top ten favorite books in any genre we want, so OF COURSE I go back to my roots and pick dystopia! It was a hard decision between dystopia and fantasy but next month's Book Bangin' theme is dystopia so I figure I might as well stick with a trend!
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins--Obvi. Some of the best books I've ever read. These made me realize what a force YA books were and reminded me how much I love reading. I was in a slump and these pulled me back in.
Divergent by Veronica Roth--Again, obvi. I almost like these books more than The Hunger Games. I KNOW, BLASPHEMY! But I was addicted to Divergent from almost the start. I just fell in love with Tris and Four and this dystopian factioned Chicago.
Delirium by Lauren Oliver--Sigh. While the end of the series isn't too popular, I cannot stop loving Delirium and Pandemonium. Lena and Alex are some of my favs ever and I will never forget how they made me feel with those first two books.
The Beyond series by Kit Rocha--Ok, so I just finished the third book that comes out later this month and you guys...obsessed doesn't even begin to describe it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these books. Smut to the max. These books are hardcore, dirty, and filled with big, bad tattooed men who will kick anyone's ass that even looks wrong at their woman. Oh gosh, I need a cold shower.
Enclave by Ann Aguirre--I think this series is so underrated. I love Deuce and Fade and think this dystopia of being forced underground is such a fantastic idea and realistic to a point if anything every happened above ground.
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi--Seriously? You need an explanation for this?
Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi--This book was an instant love for me. Aria and Perry and this crazy world inside a bubble and fake realms stole my heart.
The Giver by Lois Lowry--The origin of my love for dystopia. I have read this book more times than I can count and it never gets old. Love love love.
The Birthmarked series by Caragh O'Brien--I LOVE THESE BOOKS! Oh em gee, I cannot say enough good things about this series. I just fell in love with it and these were karma books for me. I needed them and they came to me :)
The Maze Runner by James Dashner--Thomas is one of my favorite fictional boys of all time. He is pure and good and so strong in his convictions for doing was is right. I adore him and these books just never stop moving!
Can't wait to see what you guys picked!! I hope somebody did dystopia so I can get some new book suggestions! :)
Why the hell haven't read the Birthmarked series? Honestly.. I've seen it millions of times, but have never once touched the book. Is there something wrong with me?
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah we have super similar lists this week! Cool kids!
I completely agree that Divergent was better than The Hunger Games! I was shocked since I read it right after with the mindset that nothing could ever compare!
We've picked the same kind of setting this week! I've got quite a few of yours on my list. I'm starting Divergent today which I'm really excited about! Great list! :-)
ReplyDeleteYES to Unravel Me. You can pick up either book in the trilogy, open to a random page, and find multiple sentences that will give you goosebumps because they are so gorgeous. I cannot wait for the final installment to release!
ReplyDeleteAnd, of course, The Hunger Games is obvious and Delirium is good as well, although I am one of those who disliked the ending. Great list!
I'm with you - Delirium was great. Pandemonium was okay. I didn't even bother with Requiem. *sigh* And it started out so good. Great list!
ReplyDeleteTTT @ Krista's Dust Jacket
I've read almost all of these (The Beyond & Birthmarked are the two I haven't) and I love them! I loved Requiem :)
ReplyDeleteI think I do like the Divergent series more than the Hunger Games! I cannot wait for the last one. I agree Delirium was great as was Pandemonium, Requiem... I was not a fan (definitely fell into the hate crowd there). Through the Ever Night.. YES!

I'm very picky when it comes to dystopian, but as you can see on my blog name, I really love Divergent! Hunger Games is another favorite, though I haven't read the last book yet.. :)
ReplyDeleteTop Ten Tuesday
Giveaways: Paperback of The GAP Club & 5 signed YA books
The only ones I haven't read are The Beyond series. I also really enjoyed the Birthmarked series. I think it's another really underrated series that nobody seems to know about.
ReplyDeleteI love The Maze Runner series! I can't wait for the movie to come out next year. James Dashner has had tons of involvement and has said fans will be 100% satisfied so I am hopeful that they won't destroy it.
Unravel Me: You don't even need to write the title of this book. Just write Warner. Enough said.
Great list!
My TTT
I'm actually not a fan of dystopian novels, but I know they are SOOO popular. And I've heard other people tell me they like the Divergent series more than The Hunger Games, so you're not alone. :)
ReplyDeletePopular theme today. I have Veronica Rossi on my Wish List.
ReplyDeleteMine
I loved the Hunger games. I didn't do dystopian for my list, but I'm still going to make a recommendation. Swans and Klons is an LGBT twist on the genre, and I really liked it.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
We have a lot of the same books on our list! And it isn't blasphemy to say Divergent was better -- I've been saying it since I first read the book. And I'm sure after Allegiant comes out that idea will be solidified in my mind!

I've never heard of the Beyond, so thanks for bringing it to my attention! I actually have a copy of The Giver on my shelf so I guess I should really read it soon! :)
ReplyDeleteI love dystopians, too, and you've mentioned some of my favorites here. Also, some that I'm kind of meh about -- Neither ENCLAVE nor The Maze Runner books really did it for me and I'm still irritated over the second Birthmarked book. Love HG, Under the Never Sky, DIVERGENT, etc. Have you read The Lunar Chronicles series (CINDER and SCARLET) yet? It's another of my favorites.
