Put Up Your Dukes and Let's Get Down To It--Top Ten Tuesday

Alright ya'll. I really had no clue what to do for this week's Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish but after seeing a post that Ellie did a while back it inspired me to talk about something we all LOVE to do...what is that? Defending the honor of your favorite book boyfriends. We all love to put our gameday gear on and root for our favorite boy in whatever book we may be talking about. So here are my Top Ten Favorite Teams that I root for...And I really hope we can get some good comments on discussions going. AND if I don't root for your team...feel free to defend said boy in the comments or hit me up on Twitter. Let's get this discussion going. 

Round 1

Will vs. Jem

The Infernal Devices

Alright ya'll. I'm starting off strong with opinions on this one because to me there is NO CHOICE in the matter. How this is even a debatable triangle is beyond me. Here is how I see it. The world is round. 2+2=4. The sky is blue. The grass is green. Tessa loves Will. Will loves Tessa. See how easy that is? For real. I cannot talk more about this. All my friends who are Team Jem, I love you as people, but I truly believe that you are mentally ill. You'll see my full rant and explanation in my review of Clockwork Princess but until then, it is Will and only Will. There is no other option.

Round 2

Gale vs. Peeta

The Hunger Games

I'm cheating a little bit on this one. While reading I loved Gale. He was my main man. He was strong and assertive and loved Katniss for everything she was and he always believed in her. By the end of Mockingjay though, my love for him diminished. Looking back on the series and after thinking about it, obviously Peeta is the better man but he never really made me swoon during the first time through. After re-reading I do adore him but I'm choosing neither. Hands down I pick Katniss as the sole winner of her own every time. Bitch is badass and takes no shit. She stands up for what is right and doesn't care what anyone thinks. I want to be her. No shame.

Aspen vs. Maxon

The Selection

The premise of The Selection focuses on which girl Maxon will choose. Like the Bachelor, every viewer has their favorite girl they root for. So let's turn the tables on them and pick sides on which boy we like better. I LOVE Maxon. I cannot say enough about how adorable I find him. He has so much more depth and lets America be who she is. He doesn't try and change her or make her think a certain way. I think Aspen does this. He wants the fantasy of America. Maxon fell in love with the reality. Again, no question in my mind who the victor is.

Round 4

Adam vs. Warner

Shatter Me

Ok...I already know I'm catching a lot of heat for this from MULTIPLE people. Lemme name a few...uh, Betty, Judith, Jamie and Hannah, I know you will all read this and tell me YET AGAIN how crazy I am but I am choosing my choice and sticking to my guns. While Shatter Me had me absolutely swooning head over heels for him, after reading Destroy me and Unravel Me I cannot turn my back on Warner. He is so broken and in his own subtle and roundabout way, he does the right thing. And Juliette feels like she can be herself around him! If that isn't meant to be, I don't know what is. Sorry for the unpopular choice but I'm making a few more question team alliances further down but here and now...Warner love.

Alex vs. Julian

Ok, this is another one where I don't even believe that people argue over this. Alex. Alex. Alex. Alex. He taught straight-laced, rule-follower, scared of her own shadow to defy the entire government and love. Love him and love herself. He is perfection. *sigh* While I like Julian, he just doesn't do it for me. Alex was, is, and always will be the perfect man for Lena. They just go together and to argue is denying yourself the amazingness that is Alex Sheates. *swoon*

Winner: Team Alex

Round 6

Jack vs. Cole

Everneath

Again, another unpopular choice and I don't know what it is but sometimes I just love the bad boy. Cole. Musician, sarcastic, confident, immortal, and tattoos on his knuckles...*drool*.  I need to hold on to my dignity when I think about him. Like Warner, there is just something about him that makes me love him. I want redemption for him. I want him to have a happy ending. I think he is so much more than what Nikki sees. He is deeper than people realize. Jack...meh. He was there her whole life and waited forever to act on it. That bugs me. I have that problem with another boy down the list. If you like her...TELL HER. Personal experience with this many times. Grow a pair and man up, don't wait around. That's my problem with him. So quiet, sexy, alluring Cole...you have my loyalty.

Christian vs. Tucker

Okay, where is my girl Betty at?!? I know she has got my back on this one because we are loyal and avid Christian lovers. Tucker...yack. Yeah, he's sweet and I like that he is outdoorsy and does cool stuff with Clara but he just doesn't do it for me. CHRISTIAN on the other hand. Quiet, self-assured, gives her space when she needs it, he sees her. And they FREAKIN' BELONG TOGETHER. C'mon people! I can't explain it more than that. I just adore Christian and Tucker can go ride off in the sunset on his horse in my opinion.

Round 8

Jeb vs. Morpheus

Splintered 

Another bad boy!! Like I said earlier with Cole and Jack, the same issue applies here. Jeb dates the queen bee of mean who terrorizes Alyssa and he just doesn't even have enough brain cells to realize this. Alyssa is supposed to be your best friend...Oh but wait, you have always liked her too...um, okay. How about you not date the skank you makes her life a living hell then. Too annoying. Morpheus is manipulative, conniving, cruel at times but always has Alyssa's best interest at heart. Truly he does. And he doesn't apologize or make excuses for the tough choices he has to make. He owns who he is and does what has to be done to get Alyssa where she has to be. I love him. He's dark and sexy and I'll take a trip to Wonderland for you.

Leon vs. Peter vs. Will

A love square?! Oh yes, I was floored myself when this happened. While Peter and Will are both absolutely fantastic and endearing, my heart has and will always belong to Leon. Oh he is a top ten book boyfriends and I love him beyond words. He sacrifices everything for Gaia and would follow her to the ends of the earth if it meant being with her. He supports her. He believes in her. And best of all, to me, he loves her independent and fiery personality. I'd like to find him in my real life. I'm waiting...

Winner: Team Leon

Round 10

Jace vs. Simon

The Mortal Instruments

I never like the friend for reasons stated above. Make a move. Don't act like a jealous jerk and expect the girl to know why you've got your man period all the sudden when a hot guy actually shows interest in her. Simon is this to me. The best friend. Ugh. Don't like this role. Jace, however, oh my stars is he a sexy book boyfriend. I don't even want to think about the horrible things he would do to anyone and everyone who would stand in his way of getting to Clary. This type of devotion and possessiveness is something I die for in books. I love it. This is another one where there really is no choice to me. It's always Jace...in this life and if there is one after this...right, Jace?
