A King Is Only As Strong As His Queen

"Dallas was sprawled in his customary chair at the head of the table,
a bottle of whiskey and two shot glasses on the table in front of him.
He looked up from trimming his nails with his pocketknife and
--like a good uncultured barbarian--
kept his ass planted firmly in his seat."

Goodreads Description

She refuses to be owned.

Alexa Parrino escaped a life of servitude and survived danger on the streets to become one of the most trusted, influential people in Sector Four, where the O’Kanes rule with a hedonistic but iron fist. Lex has been at the top for years, and there’s almost nothing she wouldn’t do for the gang…and for its leader. Lie, steal, kill—but she bows to no one, not even Dallas O’Kane.

He’ll settle for nothing less.

Dallas fought long and hard to carve a slice of order out of the chaos of the sectors. Dangers both large and small threaten his people, but it’s nothing he can’t handle. His liquor business is flourishing, and new opportunities fuel his ambition. Lex could help him expand his empire, something he wants almost as much as he wants her. And no one says no to the king of Sector Four.

Falling into bed is easy, but their sexual games are anything but casual. Attraction quickly turns to obsession, and their careful dance of heady dominance and sweet submission uncovers a need so deep, so strong, it could crush them both.

My Thoughts

WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS EROTICA AND SEXUAL SITUATIONS, MATURE READERS ONLY

Whoa...I need a cold shower and probably another after that. Seriously. I thought Beyond Shame was great, and it was, but Beyond Control took everything I loved about Beyond Shame and multiplied it by a million. Dallas and Lex...love love LOVE time a bajillion! I cannot stop thinking about how much I love these two characters. Which, if you can read the description, is what drives most of the second book.

But it's not all of it. The politics in this installment, to me, are even better than the first. We get a glimpse into the other sectors and who the major players are and we find very early on that Lex and Dallas's relationship become more...cemented if you will. I loved seeing Lex be her own person while standing beside Dallas during his business dealings. Rawr, there is just something about a strong, assertive man that demand attention...drool. I loved Dallas in the first book, he seemed like the most interesting character to me while I could have taken or left Lex. My feelings grew so much more for both of them. Dallas is still Dallas and I had to pick the quote I did for my favorite quotes...it was just too good not to. Lex is a lot less irritating in this book. She is still sharp as a tack with a tongue that can cut you as deep as any knife but it was amazing! She is a force to be reckoned with and the things she gets upset over in this book are totally legit and well-founded...something I didn't get from her in the first book. It was nice to see her come around and realize she didn't have to be the alpha in every situation to assert her independence.

Dallas...I just can't. He is a sexy mother effer and I am making no apologies about it. Hell. I am trying really hard not to use any curse words to describe him but he is HOTT. Like 10 alarms, find the hose, I need to be hosed down with a cold blast of water HOTT. He has his own issues to work out but he really cares about Lex. I love that he finds he can be himself around her and wants to do normal stuff around her. Just be. I just fell in love with their relationship in this book. Both stubborn as mules at points but it makes the chemistry that much better. The banter, the backtalk, the fight for domination...sexy, sexy, hott.

And the dirty scenes...holy obscene. I found myself nervously darting my eyes around the empty room I sat in and feeling the furniture judging me for totally loving this book.  Sorry not sorry. Not going to lie, it can be quite graphic so brace yourselves. Still loving the underlying tone that the women have all the control and the giving up control of the situation as a choice for the men to make it worth their while. Again, these men worship the women and would do anything to keep them safe. *sigh*

The peripheral cast of characters remains the same. We get glimpses of our favorites from Beyond Shame in uh, certain scenes. And am I the only one who wants WAY more of Ace and Maddox. Shit. Seriously. I think I know who the focus of Book 4 Beyond Jealousy will be but I need some sexy Maddox intel. I also have to say I like how the first 2 books focus on one relationship, resolve and move on. I can't wait to see what Book 3 Beyond Pain has in store for us with Bren and Six but I do know that even though this book focused on them I would like some more Dallas and Lex...Can that be arranged?...Please?!
