Top Ten Books I Recommend Most

So holy crap, this was really hard to narrow down! I could have legit done a top ten in each genre! Eesh! The Broke and Bookish were cruel this time around! Haha, just kidding ladies, you know I love you all :) So I have a mix of books I have loved forever that I ALWAYS recommend and then I added in a few new ones I've recently read because they're all I talk about :)

Fantasy

Harry Potter. Harry Potter. Harry Potter. Harry Potter.
Are you reading this Betty and Jamie!??! Get going. Betty, read it to your kids.
I know they are the coolest kids around already,
but this will only make them cooler.

Dystopia

Delirium by Lauren Oliver--All you need is love...sometimes you have to fight for it <3
Divergent by Veronica Roth--May or may not give The Hunger Games a run for their money in the fight for dystopian dominance.
The Giver by Lois Lowry--Must read. No exceptions. No excuses. Play like a champ. This book is brilliance beyond words. Especially for kids.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins--I legitimately started my own revolution of reading at work. I got my entire immediate family (minus Dad), 2 of my uncles, my cousins, and almost every girl I work with to read this book. Seriously, who hasn't read this and NOT recommended it to somebody? No one ever.

Contemporary

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green--Nerdfighters unite. Along with the two other authors I'm going to talk about, this bunch to me are the authority on YA contemporary. No fluff, all real.
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay--This is a new one and I CANNOT stop talking about it. I am telling anyone who will listen of my non-blog friends that they need to read this.
If I Stay by Gayle Forman--Again, new love but I will talk about to any ears that are willing. Just too good not to read!

Historical Fiction

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein--While a little slow to start this book is so worth the wait of sheer amazingness that is this book.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak--Beautiful story that is so emotional and thoughtful. I used to not tell anybody about this book but it is just so freakin' good it's ridiculous.

  5. Code Name Verity, yes! I agree completely, it took me so long to get into it but the emotional payout was so worth it in the end.

  6. Awesome list!!! Haha, I so appreciate the shoutout to Jamie and Betty to read Harry Potter. I mean, seriously. That still baffles me that they haven't read it xD The Hunger Games and The Fault in Our Stars definitely made my list, everyone needs to read those. Most of the rest I've either read or am planning to read :)

  21. I've read a book from each category, so yay! (I can't believe how many are out there that I haven't read yet. Fail!) That being said, I REALLY need to read Divergent. It has been on 90% of the lists I've looked today and I feel like a complete slacker for not having read it yet. Great list! :)
