Top Ten Tuesday! Bookish Goals for 2013

Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and The Bookish features this week's topic as Top Ten Bookish Goals for 2013!! Really put some thought into this one as to what exactly I want to accomplish this year...

1. Read lots of amazing books!!-- I mean I know this one is obvious but still true. I have a TBR pile crazy like everyone else's so I just want to be able to calmly and systematically read through and enjoy all the fabulous books I have yet to read.

2. Series Read-Throughs--I have this anal retentive behavior that makes me feel the need to read all preceding books in a series if a new one is coming out. Such as, Requiem comes out this year. I plan to re-read both Delirium and Pandemonium right before reading Requiem. I want a complete clean read through of the entire series. Beginning to end. I am SO looking forward to doing this! I am a huge fan of re-reading because I can remember locations I read said book, original emotions I had the first time while reading, and it just makes me so happy to visit characters I love again :)

3. Stand Alone Re-Reads--In addition to series read throughs, I have the ambitious goal of re-reading certain books that I fell in love with that aren't series. The Fault In Our Stars and Code Name Verity the top 2 among them. I just want to be able to go back and not worry about books I haven't read or are coming out and enjoy reading a book I know and love.

4. Get More Active In Blogging--I am still so new to this I feel like I am so clueless about...oh, I'd say 90% of the day. I try to comment and look at as many blogs and reviews as I can but I really want to participate in more (any) challenges and interact more :) I already signed up for the 2013 YA Contemporary Challenge which leads me into my next goal...

5. Read Out Of My Comfort Zone--I am suuuuuuuch a sucker for all things dystopian and fantasy that I realized I don't really read a lot about normal people...doing normal things...without crazy paranormal crap running around. SO my goal for this year is to read more contemporary or things in general that are out of my comfort zone.

6. Go To A Convention--I have heard a little bit about this BEA amazingness and I honestly don't think I'll be able to go this year but I would like to in the future go to this or any convention and meet people and not be stared at like a freak when talking about books or how much I love reading...that happens a lot to me in real life...

7. Continue To Meet Fabulous Authors--I get so freakin' excited (as you all do) when I get to meet an author whose books I love. I was so fortunate this year to meet so many wonderful authors! Deborah Harkness, James Dashner, Leigh Bardugo, Caragh O'Brien (!!!!!!), Kate Morton and several others. I legit felt high after meeting them. These are the real celebrities as all us cool people know. Authors are my Rockstars. Period.

8. MEET ALL YOU GUYS!!!--Ok, so I could only think of 8 but what I really want out of all this bookish wonderland is to meet more of you guys. Honestly, if you are reading this I heart you like crazy! I still feel like I'm writing to myself, which is fine! The reason I do this is because it feels so good to verbalize my feelings and love for books. But the fact that maybe one other person might be reading my words...well that's just fabulous. So I want to meet you! I love talking on Twitter, I try to reply to all comments, even though I think I miss a few here and there. But you all are amazing and I love reading your comments and your blogs and you are all just wonderful!

9. Write More Than Just Reviews--I'd like to be able to do a post once or twice a month just discussing something that isn't a meme or a review. Personalish stuff that has some regards to a topic...I don't know yet but something to get my personality through a little more so you fabulous people who do read this know a little bit more about me :)

The lack of 10 things on this list definitely makes up for all those times I cheated and had more than 10...oops, all full circle right! Can't wait to read your goals!! :)

  1. I too would definitely love to go to BEA someday. I'd probably have a total meltdown on the first day- "too many books. too many authors. can't handle it!"

  4. Good list! I totally agree with you about #1, and I have #4 to #7 on my list too. And as for feeling clueless because you're so new to this, I've been blogging for years and I still feel clueless. Lol! My TTT

    1. Me too!!! Every book that sounds interesting is the first in a freakin' series, annoying!

  6. I would LOVE to do a series re-read of SO MANY series! I used to re-read a lot before I started blogging, but ever since I've felt the need to just read books I can review.
And lol, I could do with reading some more books about normal people doing normal stuff as well ;)

    1. Ha, too much fantasy, too much epicness! Yeah, I'm making it a priority about the re-reads. AND because I just started blogging, if I re-read I can write a review for it too. Win win for me in that respect.

  7. Great list! As for Series Read-Throughs, I have a ton of series that I need to start and read through to either catch up or get to before the final book comes out. I won't have time for re-reads but I look forward to Requiem among other series' ends.

    Goof luck with your goals!

    1. I love re-reading. I don't know why, it just brings me back to the emotions I had when first reading it and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

  11. ha! i love # 5 i am the same way.. a neighbor came over my house the other day and saw i had alot of books she said "you should read this book i have its soo good"... i had to tell her.. well if it doesn't have vamps/ monsters other sci fi things, dystopian then.. its probably not for me... but i too and trying to branch out. i just got the fault in our stars to try it out. and i wish i had the patients to wait for the last book of a series to come out before i read them! thats smart. thanks for stopping by my TTT yesterday! great to have blogger friends! - Katie

    1. Hahaha right!?!? I am going to make a conscious effort to read more "normal people"...even though they don't sound as fun...meh :) Yay blog friends!!

Oh my gosh you will LOVE The Fault in Our Stars! Love love love! And I need to find some patience too and not read books unless the series in finished...fat chance on that though, lol

  12. Yay for re-reads! I'm re-reading Wither and Fever right now in anticipation of Sever for an arc tour and I'm so excited. That's one of my all-time absolute favorite series. Have you read it? I had always heard that the Delirium books have big cliffhanger endings, so I've purposefully waited until Requiem comes out to read them and I'M SO CLOSE YAY YAY YAY!!!! I can't wait, seriously.

Also, speaking of contemporary...that's so awesome that you signed up for the challenge. Before last year, I NEVER EVER EVER read contemps. So I signed up for a challenge at the nudging of a contemp loving reading/blogging friend and set my goal at 12 for the year thinking SURE I CAN DO ONE PER MONTH! Well, I ended up co-hosting a Contemporary Month last year and finished the year with 50 contemps under my belt. I ended up finding out that even though they were outside of my comfort zone initially, the genre is SO BROAD that I found out where within contemporaries I could move around and be comfortable and happy, and now I find that seek them out and love them. In fact, I'm co-hosting another Contemporary Month this year, in May. That's AWESOME that you're pushing your limits. Love that!

    1. Oh I just bought Wither!! I'm so excited to read that but I think I will wait until the last book is out just to do a complete purge of the whole thing and not torture myself with waiting.

Oh my gosh. You will DIE with the Delirium series. They are hands down a top 5 series for me. Ridiculously beautiful writing. Oliver and Mafi have a way with words for me that is un-parallel to anyone else.

And I will HAVE to check out your contemporary month because I NEED to read more of them. I have to find my niche in that genre just like you said, I don't know what I really like in there yet except John Green haha. You'll have to keep me posted on how I can get involved with that because I would love to participate, I am clueless and I need guidance on almost all things related to blogging :)

    2. (All I knew before I started reading contemps last year was John Green too. No joke. No worries. Now I put them on the blog all the time. Haha!)
