My Thoughts

The Belle
Wow. So it's legitimately incredible to me that every book I read by JR Ward is 5 star level of amazing. I had no idea what to expect going into this book with Axe and a brand new female but what I got was, yet again, incredible. Add to that the deeply emotional component of Mary and Rhage and Bitty and you've got yourself one amazing book.

Let's start with the new kids, Axe and Elise. Because we all know my aficionado for the emotionally closed off and wounded warriors, Axe was right up my alley. There's just something about a harsh, scary male going soft for only his female. Gives me goosebumps. But Axe is a tough egg to crack. Elise is an aristocrat with an overprotective father and fate--and a little bit of luck--bring them together.

Their connection is on another level incredible. As with Paradise and Craeg in the first book, their emotions leap off the page you feel so strongly with them. I loved that they were both pretty direct and upfront with their attraction to one another. There wasn't an 'is he or is he not into me' kind of issue. It was very clear they wanted each other and this was refreshing. Their path isn't easy, it's anything but, and the journey to HEA is fantastic. I loved the tension, the banter, and the melting of my heart anytime Axe opened up to Elise and her reaction to him in return warmed my black heart.

Rhage and Mary and Bitty...oh, be still my heart! I cannot even begin to put into words how much my heart bled for them. Their moments together are so poignant I was tearing up more times than I'd like to admit. Mary's devotion and love for that little girl is inspiring. It broke my heart at times when they were struggling. Bitty is twenty million different kinds of adorable and every time she was around I had a stupid grin on my face.

The dynamic between this family and the rest of the household was beautiful. I loved every single second of their story--even the hard parts--because it solidified something we already knew was so special. The additional character that comes into play is AMAZING!!! I fell more than a little in love with this characters and I NEED MORE! Please tell me, JR, that this vampire is going to get with the vampire I think! Pretty, pretty please?!?!

Ok, I'm done...for now. This was yet another amazing addition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood family. There is nothing bad I can say about this book because JR Ward is so in tune with her characters and their stories that everything she writes feels so incredibly organic and true to story, there's never anything that feels wonky or weird. I love this series and these characters like my own family. There is a certain comfort and ease that comes along with reading these books and I truly hope she writes them forever and ever because I never want to see the end of this absolutely incredible series and cast of characters.

  2. I'm totally still behind on this new spin-off series (since I haven't even read the first one even though I have it). I have to really get on that, because this sounds AMAZING :D
