My Thoughts

The Belle
I decided to read this second book of The O'Malleys series on a whim one night when I wasn't sure what I wanted to read. It turned out to be the best decision ever! This was such a fantastic read. I was engaged almost immediately, the chemistry and development between James and Carrigan was palpable, and my heart was completely in tune to their plight...but I'm getting ahead of myself.

The Couple
My favorite, favorite, favorite part was James and Carrigan. No shock there but seriously, I cannot say enough good things about these two people. James was freaking amazing. Big, blonde, rugged, sexy, I could picture him so clearly in my head and his actions only solidified my love. He was so protective of Carrigan and always there when she needed him. The loyalty will 100000% always win my heart. His devotion to her and his need to keep her happy and safe melted my freaking heart. And his dirty talk...dayum girl, I need a cold shower for sure!!

Carrigan was a girl after my own heart. Independent, sassy, fierce, she didn't need to man coming in to save her...but at the same time that's exactly what she needed. Somebody that cared. Somebody that cared enough to put her first and let her know it was okay to lean on somebody else and ask for help. As somebody who personally struggles with this, I was very in tune to her character and what she was going through. The quote I chose to highlight at the top was my absolute fav! She can slay her own dragons, rescue herself, and still be fucking fabulous while doing it. She was an amazing heroine and I loved reading about her! OH, and she loves her family. Even when they don't deserve it...

The Plight
Carrigan and James are from opposing Mafia families and due to events from the first book, nobody from Carrigan's O'Malley family wants to even look at James Halloran. Not to mention Carrigan's dad is the worst thing ever and forcing an arranged marriage on her. She has until her birthday and while she races against the clock to pick a suitor of her father's choosing, she keeps deeper and deeper into her feelings for James. My heart was breaking reading about how they couldn't be together and then the conflict at the end had my heart racing. I loved how it all turned out and I was fist pumping like crazy but it still made me nervous!

The Romance
While I talked about James and Carrigan individually, together they were an inferno. Their dynamic was so incredible. They were funny, sexy, and totally dirty in the best way. Their conversations had me laughing and swooning and fanning myself! I looooved them! So much so that I seriously could have started from the beginning and re-read them all over again!

Backstage Pass
If you love Mafia dynamics, big and sexy blonde men, and fierce women who can slay their own dragaons...this book is for you.

  1. Great review! I didn't love this as much as you but completely agree that it was super steamy and definitely an interesting premise!
