Goodreads Description
She’s got a broken heart...
and a fully loaded arsenal....
Ex–army ranger Jim Morgan leads a team of elite mercenaries, but eighteen years ago in Paris, he was part of a black ops unit whose mission was to hunt down a rogue operative. In order to trap the criminal, Jim seduced Noelle, the man’s daughter—a ruthless act that cost him the love of his life and turned her into a mortal enemy. Now he can’t trust her, but he still desires her. He also needs her help....
Older, wiser, and unwilling to play the fool again, Noelle runs a group of highly skilled assassins. And she’s just been offered the hit of the century: Eliminate Jim Morgan. History gives them no reason to trust each other, but with their lives in jeopardy at the hands of a common enemy, the lines between love and hate are soon blurred. Now Noelle and Jim must face the past if they want to have a future—let alone a future together.

This book was AMAZING!!!!! I have actually been waiting for Noelle and Morgan's story since LITERALL--and I hate saying literally--the second chapter of the FIRST book!! The sexual tension between these two was OFF the mother fucking CHAIN! I was so intrigued and excited to see how Elle Kennedy was going to take two people who loathe each other for the past 19 years and 4 books and turn them into can't-live-without-you lovers.
And the transition was perfect. Kennedy takes what we already know about the characters, massive amounts of rage and passion, and turns it into the most amazing hate sex I have ever read about. I mean, fanning myself, heart racing, holy shit I actually need a cold shower because this book and these characters are so freaking hot. And then we have the emotions. Kennedy also gives us flashback scenes to what really went down between the two of them all those years ago. Holy. Fucking. Heartbreaking. It is incredible to see a different kind of Noelle and Morgan. Noelle was...fierce but softer. Open to love and love she did. Morgan is the same. Rough and focused but softer. He loved Noelle with everything he had and their situation was just the worst kind of fortune's fool and it has haunted them both for the past two decades.
Present day, because they need to work together a cease fire is called. I loved the small moments of them not being badass killers and could just laugh at stupid shit together. It warmed my cold, dead heart. I also LOVED where the story went. Somebody wants Jim dead and through their investigating, it brings us full circle to the animosity that happened 19 years ago. And the fallout? Amazing. I mean, sucked as the drama was going on but OMG I loved how it all went down and wrapped up. I loved Morgan's vulnerability and Noelle being there for him to kick his dumbass back into gear. Their hate love and tough love routine was on another level. I was worried the relationship dynamic would change from hating each other by sight to lovey dovey much but it SO was not like that at all. I was super impressed with the way that Kennedy was able to to transition them into actually talking about their feelings and hashing out what happened years ago. Per usual, it felt very realistic and organic to the story. Which made me especially happy because I have been waiting for their book for so incredibly long. *happy dance*
This is probably my favorite book the series so far and I cannot wait to keep reading. Especially D's book...where is D!??!?!? BUT I know we do have the sexy Irishman coming up...rawr. OH!!! And there's another couple in early stage development that I NEVER saw coming and I am SO pumped to see them *hopefully* get their happy ending...in more than one way...if you catch my drift.
