Goodreads Description
After spending the summer away from each other, Titus and Iolanthe (still disguised as Archer Fairfax) are eager to return to Eton College to resume their training to fight the Bane. Although no longer bound to Titus by a blood oath, Iolanthe is more committed than ever to fulfilling her destiny—especially with the agents of Atlantis quickly closing in.
Soon after arriving at school, though, Titus makes a shocking discovery, one that makes him question everything he previously believed about their mission. Faced with this devastating realization, Iolanthe is forced to come to terms with her new role, while Titus must choose between following his mother's prophecies—and forging a divergent path to an unknowable future

I love this series so hard. The writing is amazing. The plot is a gorgeous concoction of historical fiction and fantasy. The characters are brilliant and witty and smart and I love them! Start this series or pre-order The Perilous Sea...you're gonna need it.

I am so looking forward to reading The Perilous Sea! I figure it would be best for me to reread The Burning Sky first, so I can feel refreshed about all these characters and situations and then dive straight into this. I'm glad to hear that this one is just as, if not more, impressive than the first. I really liked Titus + Iolanthe and can't wait to continue their journey with them!
ReplyDeleteI just finished this one last night and really enjoyed it!! The world is pretty amazing and I loved reading about all the magic/spells/creatures. I did sometimes feel like it was a bit of an info dump and I think the characters discovered things a bit too easily. Or maybe not too easily. Maybe it's like you said, that they didn't react strongly enough. But I really did love this book. Iolanthe and Titus are so amazing together!! And there were so many awesome themes explored and the Bane is seriously terrifying. *shudders*
ReplyDeleteYou are the second one whose mentioned their reactions to some big events seeming underwhelming and I hadn't thought of it before because I read this with my fantasy goggles on which means I loved everything but I guess I can totally see that. The book moved a little too fast to catch some of that (but I still loved it!)
