So this week is all about the love that never was. What am I talking about? The top ten popular authors I've never read--hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This list will probably shock you but what can I say? I either haven't gotten around to them or they write books that isn't my thing. I have so many friends in real life that ask me about Nicholas Sparks and Jodi Picoult and they are amazed! Sorry? Convince me as you see fit friends, tell me what I'm missing out on.
Sarah Dessen
Nicholas Sparks
Stephen King
Jodi Picoult
John Grisham
Stephanie Meyer
Jennifer Armentrout
Can't wait to see who you guys picked so I can do some convincing of my own!
Oh I knew I was forgetting one. I haven't read John Grisham either. Or Stephanie Meyer. I do love Stephen King though. He's such a great author--his worlds are amazing and characters are unforgettable. I prefer King's older works to his newer stuff. he's hopped on the contemporary train for the last few releases.

A few of those people were also on my list. My list this week practically wrote itself, since I'm so out of touch with modern trends.

Fiance has like an entire bookcase full of Stephen King so he's made me read quite a bit of it actually, haha. I haven't read most of your other ones either. :/ but, kelly, for freaking real you've got to read Jennifer Armentrout. you MUST. :) haha, i mentioned you in one of the ones on my list actually. it involves a character with your favorite name. :) man, so many authors I still need to read!
ReplyDeleteOk, as much as you must have heard about Twilight, it is not that bad, I promise. I had butterflies the whole way through the books.
ReplyDeleteAND The host is even better than Twilight, the universe is more interesting.
But the author that you absolutely need to read in my opinion is Stephanie Perkins. I'm also a late love, I've only read Anna and the French kiss two months ago. But man, it was so good. So BRILLIANT. You won't regret any page of it, this book is like pure happiness in paper format. I swear, lthough I'm French and usually I'm a bit weary of books that take place in Paris, this one is such a hit!!!
I just fixed the Stephanie Perkins shaped hole in my reading life. ;) I still need to read a Sarah Dessen book, though! My TTT!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I've only read Stephanie Meyer, John Grisham, Jodi Picoult and Nicholas Sparks from your list. :)
ReplyDeleteI say, Pass on all of these!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read.
I haven't read any of these except Meyer! Really need to play catch up with so many authors!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT :)
Love your list :) We have a few in common!
ReplyDeleteCora @ Tea Party Princess
You are like the ONE person who never read Twilight! I'm kind of impressed... :)
ReplyDeleteI've read 2 Stephen King books. One I absolutely hated and the other was okay. I'm not completely sold on him yet. Especially him bad-mouthing other authors who are more successful than him.
ReplyDeleteI loved Anna & the French Kiss (I read it not too many books ago!) and Jennifer L. Armentrout is the best!
Great list. I would highly recommend you pick up anything by Jodi Picoult , Stephanie Perkins and Sarah Dessen the next time you get the chance to.

Good call on not reading Stephenie Meyer. :D
ReplyDeleteHow could I not put Sarah Dessen and Stephanie Perkins on my list??? *facepalm* I almost had to put JLA but I just read White Hot Kiss and omg, Kelly, that book is totally for you. You would love it! Read her stuff now!! :)
ReplyDeleteGirl, I just know you'd love JLA lol. Get on that.
ReplyDeleteSarah Dessen and Stephanie Perkins are both on my list too! Since making the list, I have read Anna and the French Kiss which I LOVED; it was adorable!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I forgot about Stephen King! I'm pretty sure I've never read anything by him...
You're not missing much as far as Jodi Picoult and Nicholas Sparks, but I definitely recommend Sarah Dessen. She's one of my favorite authors, though some of her books are better than others. The two I enjoyed most are Someone Like You and Just Listen.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT if you'd like to check it out.
Hmmmm... Not a huge Sparks fan, and if you want to try Meyer, skip Twilight and just read The Host - much better in plot and characters in my opinion. But your YA contemps need to be fixed!! Dessen is like the contemp queen and JLA is amazing and blogger friendly.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, great list!!
I definitely think you need to try out Stephanie Perkins. At least, ANNA. You love to travel! Also, Sparks is such a guilty pleasure for me. I read him a lot on vacation and it's comfortable and nice but nothing totally groundbreaking, ya know?
ReplyDeleteSTEPHANIE PERKINS, really Kel ? get on it. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY: Jodi Picoul: THE PACT. Will break you. Just do it. I wouldn't steer you wrong, swear!
ReplyDeleteALSO BONUS: Stephen King: THE GREEN FRICKIN MILE. Thanks.
