The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins--Uh duh, need I even begin to explain my love and adoration that is Katniss freakin' Everdeen
Divergent by Veronica Roth--Tris is kickass. Four is swoony to the max. And they base their lives on weapons and tattoos and if they have a Divergent University they would be majoring in Badass Studies.
Legend by Marie Lu--OMG JUNE AND DAY and how freaking amazing they are! They are so totally kickass and brilliant and their story is amazing if you have not read it, get on that! (Review)
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi--Dystopian world with crazy electrical storms and the fight to break out of stereotypes. Love love love.
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood--The whole idea of a society so hard up that it has to debase women the way it does...messed up to the maximum and I loved every minute.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi--Could be argued as paranormal but the first book is definitely on the dystopia genre so I'm wrapping Juliette, Warner, Adam, and Kenji up and giving them all my love with this genre and pick. (Review)
The Giver by Lois Lowry--This is the book that started it all...I read it for the first time in fourth grade and was legit changed by the epicness that is this book. I think everyone should read this because it is seriously perfect to me.
Delirium by Lauren Oliver--This book...THIS BOOK. Love is a disease?! Not only is the concept BRILLIANT all the feels involved deem me to mark this as a soul-ripper. (Review)
The Maze Runner by James Dashner--I love the mystery that constantly surrounds the world Thomas and the gang live in. The fast-paced writing had me absolutely obsessed while reading so much so that I actually got a number of family members to ACTUALLY READ THE BOOKS I RECOMMEND.
Enclave by Ann Aguirre--An unknown element forces all of humanity to live underground like beasts and people rarely live past their 20s...uh, hello amazing!
Birthmarked by Caragh O'Brien--I cannot even being to tell you my love for this series. Gaia is scarred and Leon is a man to be reckoned with. As I type this I think I need a complete re-read of this series...read these for the love of literature. (Review)
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro--This book is scary as all hell because it is the most likely dystopian that I have ever read. With scientific advancement the way it is, it is not hard to imagine this world coming to life in a few decades. Sad but true.
So tell me. Are these YOUR favorite dystopians?
I have a love/hate relationship with Dystopias. I always love reading them and seeing different authors interruptions of are world gone bad, but I also have issues with them when I read them. I've read 6/10 books on your list. UTNS just might be my favorite. I love the overall story being told.

Dystopias forever! I almost wrote about them this week, but I went with sci-fi instead. You have a great list! So glad to see The Handmaiden's Tale on it, and I will definitely have to carry forward with the Birthmarked trilogy now!

Some excellent choices here! I'm a big fan of Lauren Oliver's Delirium, so it totally makes me happy to see it on your list!

Aside from Hunger Games and Divergent, I'm not actually a fan of Dystopian novels. I tried, really, but it just won't appeal to me. :(

Our lists are almost identical this week! Lol. I have actually never heard of Never Let Me Go, but I will have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love love love both Under the Never Sky and The Hunger Games, they are such awesome trilogies. Divergent too, but I think I had too high expectations going into Insurgent, it didn’t appeal to me as much. You’ve listed a couple of series I’ve never heard of, and I’ll definitely be adding them to my TBR! Happy reading!

Great list - Under the Never Sky (I still need to read the 3rd book), The Hunger Games, Divergent (I still need to read the 3rd book), Delirium too was great (I need to read the remaining books for that too). I've been dying to read Shatter Me, and I already have that, I just haven't got the time to read it yet.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day! :)
I've read almost all of these and definitely agree ;) DYSTOPIA RULES!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing list! I read The Giver in fifth grade, and it was the first book to rock my world and make me realize the power of stories. The Handmaid's Tale is an incredible book as well, tough to read but oh so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT if you'd like to check it out.
Enclave........... BOOOOOM!!
ReplyDeleteI love a good dystopian! I think my favourite on your list would be Under the Never Sky - that whole series is amazing!
ReplyDeleteAll great picks!! I haven't read a few of these (I'm not saying which) but will definitely be moving some up based on your notes. :)
