"Was she wrong to want more than that?
To want passion? She wanted someone who stormed the castle, who was so overcome with need that he'd tear down the walls to get to her.
Maybe it was archaic to crave that but she did.
Of course, she also wanted her freedom and independence.
Was that even possible?
To have it all?"

My Thoughts
The Belle
Le sigh. From the very beginning of this series, I have loved it. The badass female heroines who take no shit and give zero fucks and the men that love them. Midnight Target is the long-awaited final book in the series that brings us Sully and Liam and Cate and Ash, respectively. It makes me so sad to say goodbye to this series and these characters but Midnight Target did not disappoint in the least.
On par with the previous books, this final installment felt like coming home after a long day. It was familiar but still new. The political unrest that is happening that Cate gets involved in was treacherous. I loved seeing Jim Morgan and his team fall into line to help Cate and how they execute their plans. I love the assassin and mercenary angle so much that reading about it always has me turning the pages for more, more, more! Seeing old characters in present day and what they're up to never failed to bring a smile to my face.
The romance also did not disappoint. The struggles of Liam and Sully were not resolved quickly or easily and I didn't want them to be. They had to fight for what they wanted and I absolutely loved seeing how this resolved itself. Liam's crazy Irish family is a hoot and they had my laughing my ass off. I love them so much!
Cate and Ash are equally hot and just on another level! I loved them together. I love their struggles. I loved how Cate didn't give up or let anybody tell her what to do. She knew what she wanted and she went after her. Her drive and ambition to be a successful photographer was amazing. I love seeing her in the middle of the action in her own way. She doesn't try to be somebody she is not, she forges her own path and owns it. I love how Ash complements her.
If you haven't started this series and love Elle Kennedy or romantic suspense, you are seriously missing out! This series is everything that is right with romance and plot intrigue. The battlefield these assassins and mercenaries fight on is also engaging, always exciting, and always leaves me wanting more. I cannot say enough good things about this series and I hope we get future short stories or vignettes because I am not ready to let them go quite yet!
