My Thoughts
The Belle
As a massive Jay Crownover fan, I cannot even tell you the excitement I got when this guy came in my mailbox. Excited is an understatement. I love me some Marked Men, don't get me wrong, but the Point boys have a huge part of my heart. I love the dark and gritty setting and life of the Point. If you've been here before you know my heart is dark and twisty and this series feeds that in the best way.
While the characters of Th Breaking Point series are the same as Welcome to the Point, we've got a fresh new look and name to the latter part of this series. The heart and grime is still there, though. Rest assured. Honor gives us Nassir and Keelyn, who have been dancing, literally sometimes, around each other for years. Key, aka Keelyn, has always feared she would lose herself if she ever gave into Nassir and Nassir has been patiently waiting for her to realize she's his co-ruler of the Point for just as long.
What I loved most about this book was the pacing. I really love when the couple gets together earlier in the book and then work through outside issues together rather than fighting with themselves. And in a place like the Point, you have to know who had your back and fight with your squad. This book brings Nassir and Key a brand new club, I won't spoil and tell you what kind but it's AMAZING. The new club brings about some issues and a lot of the plot tension is derived from this and how Nassir deals with it. The plot and pacing was on point--see what I did there?--and I loved that there were multiple points of conflict. It kept me reading and always had me on the edge of my seat.
OKAY, let me talk about NASSIR for a moment. Going into the book, I was intrigued. I wasn't swooning yet because this guy is a devil not in disguise. He wears his ruthless and viciousness with pride and he is NOT somebody you want to mess with. I'm pretty sure he had my black heart within the first few pages. He is incredibly complex, layered, and deep. He is not 'just' one thing. He is many and a lot of them good in the only way he knows how. I loved how unrepentant he was but at the same time looking for redemption...in his own way. But for reals, on a superficial level, he is sexy as all fucking hell. This Middle Eastern stunner had my heart and ovaries in heat. I wanted IN on that man. Holy hell.
But Nassir wasn't the only one to steal my heart. Keelyn is fucking badass as all hell. Y'all know I'm a girl's girl and Key is my new favorite. She was a BOSS. She stood up for herself, she was smart and savvy, she took zero shit and gave zero fucks. Watching her open up to Nassir and claim him as her own was sexy as all hell. Like wow. The tension and sexual chemistry between these two was off the charts!
While I was excited to read this book, it completely blew me away. I didn't expect to love Nassir and Keelyn as much as I did. I was completely invested and drawn into the story from the first few pages. If you don't have this on your TBR or you haven't been to the Point yet, you need to make some changes. This series is dark and gritty and oh so delicious!
