When Dirty showed up in my mail I was super excited. I hadn't read any Kylie Scott prior to this but I had heard good things about her Stage Dive series so I--heh heh--dove right in...see what I did there? I was almost immediately engaged and invested in the story. Lydia is a runaway bride for *ahem* reasons and ends up breaking into Vaughn's house sitting in his shower in her misery. I loved Lydia immediately. She really drove the story for me and kept me reading. I loved her. I loved her fire, her sass, her one-liners, her ability to care deeply about near strangers, and her vulnerability. Her insecurities about her body felt real without being the sole focus of her thoughts. She was a legitimate plus-size girl and those are my favorite. I'm not body shaming on either spectrum but it's nice to read about a heroine with lumps and soft spots and not "size 12 plus size" because that is not plus size, that's normal/average. Anyways. Lydia was the bomb dot com and her creative use of vocabulary was the actual best. "Devil dick and demon tongue'. That is all.
The romance and chemistry between Lydia and Vaughn was pretty immediate but not in an overtly annoying insta-love way. They were attracted to each other and while the course of the book is only 2 weeks, it didn't feel rushed. And while it is crazy how their circumstances started and how short of time they know each other, it didn't bother me. Their calling each other out on their bullshit was my favorite part of their courtship. They gave it to each other straight and helped force each other to face their problems.
More than just the focused romance, the secondary characters were fantastic. I loooooved meeting the rest of the crew, Nell, Pat, Joe, Eric, Rosie and Andre. In addition to their amazing characterization, they own and work at a restaurant and I after knowing that I was 100% invested in this world. I love reading about cooking and chefs and restaurants and the industry. It's so out of my zone of what I do for work that I can't get enough reading about it. I am so excited to read the future books that I wish I had them in my hands right now! I'm super excited for Joe and I cannot wait to see how things evolve for other characters because...reasons. Read the book, you'll know what I mean.

So, would you say that I would enjoy this one? Because I think it sounds pretty great! I'm a little curious about the romance itself - because sometimes, a little romance with some great chemistry is all you need ;)
