Goodreads Description
She’s smart, seductive, and in way over her head.
He’s her only way out.

An undercover DEA agent has gone off the radar. Suspecting an internal mole, the government needs Luke Dubois and his elite team of operatives to recover their man, and the New Orleans native thinks he’s found his way inside the dark underbelly of Manhattan: Olivia Taylor, the girlfriend of a mob boss and the sexiest woman he’s ever laid eyes on. His new mission objective? Get past Olivia’s defenses and convince her to take a chance—on him.

All Olivia wanted was to finish law school and live a normal life, but that dream was shattered when one dangerous night put her deeply in a mobster’s debt. Now Luke and his team will help her escape—in exchange for intel on the missing agent. But Olivia doesn’t anticipate her intense attraction to the reckless Louisiana charmer or that she’ll be forced to risk everything—including her heart.
I adore this series. I am a new fan to this series and I am so upset I haven't read this sooner. From the first page I was immediately engaged and I did not want to put the book down. We start our story with Luke and the guys on a stakeout mission at a strip club. The crew was sent in to find a missing undercover DEA agent. Fast forward a bit and we meet Olivia. A dancer at the club. She has a secret and because of that secret, the owner of the strip club, Vince, basically owns her. He thinks he loves her and is completely controlling. She wants nothing to do with it but has to fake it or he'll probably kill her.

Luke is sent in to get closer to Olivia and she steals his heart, okay maybe lust at first, immediately. I loved the breaking down of the walls on both ends. Olivia doesn't trust anybody after the situation with Vince. Luke is a mercenary so his walls are always up. But I loved that she gave in to trusting him. When the final straw is drawn for her, I loved watching her go to him. It was endearing and so heartfelt. I so totally swooned. The chemistry is hot.

Olivia was my favorite part of the book. You all know how much I love a great heroine. Olivia was this amazing juxtaposition of acting like this quiet, submissive girl who is dating the boss but underneath she is this strong, resilient, fierce firecracker. Her relationship with her mother got to me. Oh, my word. I loved how devoted she was to her mom and didn't even think a complaint at all. She did everything for the right reasons to take care of her mom. I loved their interactions, especially when Luke was involved. It was just beautiful and funny and I loved it.

What gets me the most is what an amazing balance Elle Kennedy gives us between focus on the main couple and the suspense plot aspect is incredible. I never felt one part overshadowed the other. I was so impressed with how invested I was with the romance and how anxious I was with the agent plot. I loved this dual plot and I cannot wait to read the next one!
