Objection!

"Of wanting something so much it's like every cell in your body is stretching, reaching for it, yet there's a gray shadow of worry that you might never get to touch it.
And keep it.
That all you'll be left with is the memory of how great it could have been."

Goodreads Description

When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate - and prized - parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.

Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.

And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
**
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.

She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore - she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.

But things aren’t exactly working out that way.

Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.
I cannot tell you the squee I let rip when Appealed showed up at my door. I LOVED Sustained and was rolling in laughter when I read Overruled, so getting Appealed was on another level exciting. It was not disappointing in the least. In fact, I was shocked by how much my emotions got involved. Let me explain.

Appealed tells the story of Brent and Kennedy. They grew up next door to one another, had a falling out in high school, and just met again as adults on opposing sides of a court case. Throughout the book we learn what makes Kennedy so opposed to Brent's advances and what happened all those years ago. I never expected to have my emotions body checked so hard than reading about Kennedy's experience in high school. She was bullied and torn down and unfortunately, Brent knew nothing about it. While they work through their issues, I couldn't help but completely side with Kennedy. I love Brent, he makes up for everything tenfold but my heart ached reading about Kennedy and her hesitation to be open to love. Emma Chase did such a superb job dealing with the aftermath and long term effects of bullying that my heart was 10000% invested.

On a happy note, while I'm not always a fan of second chance romance, this one worked for me so well. I was rooting for them, I loved their shared history and memories. It melted my heart and actually made me wish for my own childhood friend that I could grow up to marry. It was that sweet. It was hard as fuck getting to a good point, don't get me wrong, but it was so worth all the agony in getting there.

The secondary characters we have come to know and love also made me cry--but in a good way! The updates on where Stanton and Sofia are and what Jake and Chelsea are up to had me SWOONING!!! Especially a certain BBQ scene involving the McQuaid Monsters.  My heart, you guys. MY FUCKING HEART!!! More than that, there's an extra epilogue at the end that just had me in tears of joy. Absolute pathetic, wallowing, happiness tears. It was extraordinary and just melted my heart so hard I wanted to re-read the entire series immediately and I plan to do that in the short future.

If you have not had the pleasure of reading this series yet, you need to change that. It if sexy, sassy, HILARIOUS, and fun! It is so fun! The banter that is a constant in these books between the characters will forever have you laughing. I love these characters, I love this series, and I'm really sad to see it go! Can we have a whole book of an extended epilogue updates? Please?!

  1. I love when you can connect in such a strong way to a main character! Seeing you mention that honestly makes me ten times more curious about this book (and series) ;)
