Oh, my gosh this was SO FREAKING GOOD!! This is my first romantic suspense book and I am in love! I didn’t know what to expect going into it but when the book opens with an assassin being tortured after purposely blowing her cover…I was hooked. I had to know what was going to happen next! From there we meet Abby, the assassin, her boss Noelle, Jim Morrison, and his band of mercenaries. They all fascinate me. Kane is our hero in this story but I am already foaming at the mouth for Noelle and Jim because holy fucking sexual TENSION!! Wowza! But that’s not our story. Anyways..
Kane and Abby are a slow but taut burn. Abby was a tough nut to crack. A badass, stone cold bitch with a heart of gold, I loved getting to know her and her story. It is heart-breaking. But then when she gets around Kane she is an awkward mess. Her complete lack of game in regards to Kane both broke my heart and was so freaking endearing! Kane was all sex appeal and understanding. He recognizes her “weakness” and does everything he can to protect and nurture it. I loved their touch and go dynamic. I thought it was paced perfectly. I loved how much he took his time with Abby and pushed her just enough to confront her demons. Love love love.
The cast of characters of assassins and mercenaries was amazing. I loved reading about their missions and skill sets, totally sexy. The cause for the main mission of this book was amazing. How all the players rallied around and got emotionally invested in this cause was beautiful. I seriously cannot wait for the next book and to see what these characters get up to and who they get into…heh heh. Too vulgar? Like I care. Already HIGHLY anticipating a certain mercenary’s story *coughDcough*.

So, this sounds like something I should most likely check out! Very different from my normal romance fair, but it sounds pretty damn great to me ;) I do like assassins and mercenaries.
