As I said in my review of The Professional, this underground, sexy world of Russian mafiya gets my blood pumping. I LOVED the first book in the series and Maksimilian is no exception to this rule, nor is Cat. Wow. Za. Kresley Cole does not hold back in the sexy, the banter, the snark, or the sexual tension. Our story begins with Cat taking over an escort call for her friend who is sick. She has never been an escort before and long story short, Maksimilian will be her first one. What ensues is a lot of back talk and a lot of sexytimes.
My favorite part of this book is the dynamic between Maks and Cat. Cat puts the ass in sass because this girl has a comeback for everything. She knows exactly which buttons to push and she does it with flair. What I found the most hilarious is that Maks believes nothing of what Cat says. Not all is well in Cat's world. She's on the run from her husband for reasons I will not divulge as to not ruin it for you. So to say Cat keeps everything close to the chest is an understatement. This girl reveals nothing. And the small crumbs she does give Maks, he never believes. Hilarious as it is infuriating. Their banter and sexual escapes are off the chart hot. I loved reading how they interacted and how they drove each other to the point of insanity. I just could not get enough of their sexy and witty banter of hate towards each other.
Taking a serious note, the way these two slowly opened up to one another was just another faction of my love for this book. Little by little they began to trust each other fully "knowing' the other person wasn't supposed to be around. That doesn't make a lot of sense but neither one expected the other to have such an impact on them. Gah! Just read the book and you'll know!
The climax of the story is something I had been waiting for the entire book. Walls come down, the truth comes out, and it's raw and ugly and beautiful all at once. I just cannot say enough about how much I loved the relationship between these two and if that's not enough...think of all the hot sexy times as a bonus *wink*
