Mini-Review

Wendy told me early on via Twitter when I told her I was starting this that I would love this book...why? Two words. Scarred. Warrior. HELLO secret fetish. Well not so secret, Zsadist is my favorite book boyfriend of all time after so it should come as too much of a surprise. ANYWAYS. I did love this book. Lucien is a perfect specimen of a big, bad warrior...who has zero clue as to how much sex appeal he actually has. Enter Anya who is immensely attracted to him and loves his scars...that sounds weird, but hey I get it. Scars make people interesting and they always tell a story. That's my motto.

So Anya is dead set on making out with Lucien and making him notice her. She is just ridiculous in the best way. Over the top. Outrageously flirtatious. Sexual innuendo up the wazoo. She is so freaking funny that I was lol'ing many times while reading. And obviously the most endearing part of it all is that Lucien thinks her come ons are all bullshit. Because how could anyone as beautiful as Anya ever love a beast like him? SORRY! I couldn't help it! I"m done. That was my one and only Beauty and the Beast reference. For reals though. The source of conflict mainly came from these two having the complete inability to say what they're really feeling. Oh, and that little thing about Lucien being ordered to kill Anya and Anya being cursed. Small details. But that gives us our story.

What I loved about this book was that we got more detail and plot development in regards to finding Pandora's box and some foreshadowing of things to come with other warriors. I loved the banter between Anya and Lucien and fighting their desires. Anya broke my heart in so many ways. She just wants to be loved dammit! And Lucien. Le sigh. Lucien needs to be loved. My only gripe with this book is I feel like the ending was rushed. The big reveal of the plot came way too late in the book and then the last 2 pages wrap it up real quick like. I was like wait, that's it? That's all they had to do? It felt a little half-assed after all they went through.

With that said, I'm really excited to read the next story!! I would have thought Reyes would be book two but Eeeep! Can't wait to see what happens with him and Danika!
