Thank to the Broke and the Bookish for another Top Ten Tuesday. I haven't done one in awhile but Hannah alerted me to this week's topic and I HAD to do this one because of all the amazing and angst books I love to read. So this week's topic is Hardest Books To Get Through and I'm going with the hardest books to get through based on the emotional trauma I experienced while reading...phew...here we go...cue the tears...oh side note--how I chose these books also? These are the books that made my ugly cry...like...UGLY CRY...
Legit...I can't even go into these book without wanting to cry so I shall leave them as they are without describing why...if you've read these books you probably already know. I will however, list my reviews if I reviewed them for further explanation :)
What books are hard for you to get through?!
The Bronze Horseman and Me Before You are on my list this week too. Me Before You is one of my favourite books of all time. It's emotional but amazing! I do need to check out some more of the books on your list.

I've seen The Fault in Our Stars and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on a few lists today. I can't speak to the first one, but I had a hard time getting through the second... though probably for a different reason than everyone else!

ReplyDeleteI have read some of those books. Sea of Tranquility was definitely tough to read. I loved it though and thought it was such an awesome story. I picked up "The Bronze Horseman" because you keep raving about it. I haven't had the chance to read it yet because my TBR pile has about a billion books on it but I do plan to get to it soon. Many of those other books i haven't read as well, I did read "Fault in our Stars" but you know how everyone feels about that book. I cried when I read it the first time and every other time after that.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the books you wrote I would have to add "Perks of being a Wallflower" especially when you realized what happened to Charlie. That book was tough for me to finish. I just couldn't deal with my feelings. Also, "Go ask Alice" would be another one. I read this book with my students and I seriously wanted the outcome to be great. Man oh man so many books that give you the feels.

The Book Thief, Code Name Verity, and The Fault in Our Stars made my ugly cry a lot but I was an absolute weeping mess in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, more so than Deathly Hallows. To feel such happiness for Harry and Sirius and then have it all taken away. OMG. I cried for like days. I just tear up just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteOf all the books you've mentioned, I believe Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is legitimately the only one I've read that made me cry. I was full-on sobbing, but I suppose that mostly has to do with my attachment to the series and the characters and how Rowling brought it to an end.
